Rameswaram

Rameswaram is a place which is in the down south of Tamil Nadu in the Map of India. It is a historical place which is referred in many historical novels, ethics, short stories and poems. Rameswaram is a proud place which is referred in Ramayanam where Rama led a bridge to Srilanka to acquire sita devi from Ravana's custody.

Rameswaram is a Pilgrim centre for Hindus, Everyday many tourists from India and also from foreign countries visiting Rameswaram to enrich their tourist experience. People in Rameswaram believes that After saving sita from Ravana, Rama reached rameswaram and said thanks to Lord Shiva to apologize for killing Ravana.

Rameswaram is the key fishing area in TamilNadu, So many fishermen are living their life with the help of the sea in Rameswaram. So many boats are going to sea for fishing and returning with pail of fishes. Fishing and Tourism is the main occupation of Rameswaram. Variety of Export quality fishes like Crab, Prawn, Sea Fishes, Dry fishes are available in Rameswaram.

Rameswaram is famous for Ramanathaswamy temple. This is one of the longest temple in India. Area of the Rameswaram town is 53 Square kilometers.There are 21 wards in Rameswaram among that 6 of them are reserved for Women and 1 for Scheduled Caste people.

Majority of people in Rameswaram are hindus, Muslims and Christians are of equal strength in Rameswaram. Population of Rameswaram is floating population. You can find many men and women in Rameswaram but they are all from different regions we can commonly call them as Tourist people.
